At the AMD new product launch event early this morning, AMD announced that the new generation of 12-core 24-thread R9 5900X is the best gaming CPU in the world.
According to AMD's official data, R9 5900X has 12 cores and 24 threads, clocked at 3.7GHz, turbo frequency 4.8GHz, TDP 105W, and priced at US$549, which is US$20 more expensive than Intel's i9-10900K.
As shown in the figure above, in terms of performance per dollar, R9 5900X is higher than Intel i9-10900K whether it is single-core or multi-core.
AMD selected 10 games to compare with Intel i9-10900K. The game resolution is 1080p. Among them, "League of Legends" leads 21%, "CS: GO" leads 19%, and "Tomb Raider: Shadow" leads 6% . However, in "Battlefield 5" Intel i9-10900K still has an advantage.
In terms of running points, the R9 5900X single-core scored 631 points. AMD said that this is the first desktop CPU with a single-core score of over 600 points. In contrast, the i9-10900K scored 544 points.
R9 5900X will go on sale on November 5.
